What about rear-mounting (oo'er) the neck pickup? That could look pretty awesome.

Wouldn't want you to go to all this trouble then never play the guitar because it's a dead weight.

Yep, you never need to adjust it and the toanz!!!!telefiend wrote:Is there a benefit with truss-less?
no hollow route in the neck to detract from the tone - allegedly.
Because its made from kwilla, which is the second strongest material known to man, after unobtainium, it will never warp.
Oh also, it'll look awesome in deck shots!

Ah, I see. Kwilla is the concrete of the wood world. And also Kwilla = killer (toan)Bg wrote:Yep, you never need to adjust it and the toanz!!!!telefiend wrote:Is there a benefit with truss-less?

well the theory is that if you don't have a big slot routed in it = better toan. But from my point of view, it saves me arseing around with a seperate fretboard, routing for a trussrod and sticking the fretboard on OR routing from behind and fitting a skunk stripe. In theory then an easier build for a neck. In practice, its not such a big deal doing a seperate fretboard, just a bit more time really.

Yeah I'm tossing (oo'er) up between that or modifying the pickup and removing the screw 'ears' and the part where the wires go in so it can front mount in the same sized slot as the cover. Height adjustment would be by packing and double sided tape though, but hardly a chore after its set up right.bender wrote:What about rear-mounting (oo'er) the neck pickup? Ah perhaps I'm being too precious, its not highly figured, just a nice bit of grain really.

You could put a Filtertron or P90 in the neck.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Anything over 10lbs would be dead-weight to me. Wasn't saying 8lbs was.

I did a huge post this morning about this - but can't have sent it. When Adrian did my one, he said you leave fret leveling etc to last, and then set the relief with the fret levels. Depending on the resistance of the Kwila, you might have pick one string gauge and stick with that.Bg wrote:Jvpp, quick question... What did you do about relief?
