Now that the wine drama is gone... and you can think clearly again... seriously think about putting in a zero fret.

nah, nuts too that ;)

Bit the bullet and bought a router table from bunnings. My workshop down in the basement gets damp and the one I made from mdf has swollen and warped... Worked most of the day so didn't get much done, but its taking shape.

Ya know there's the Men's Shed North Shore right? It's in Glenfield, communal workshop, $90 a year. I built 4 guitars there before I moved away, and I'll be building another once I move back there in a month.

They've got all the tools, clamps, sandpaper, glues, whatever. Can't go wrong really.

It's about a 15 minute drive from pt Chev. Exit 417. Well worth it for all the tools I'd ever need.

$90 a year sounds great but BG would have to factor in the cost of passport renewal to cross the bridge.

anyway, not much building done this week, had my 42nd birthday at the beginning of the week and played catchup with work since then.

Got a bit of time down in the workshop today but spent it stripping the Supro body.

Hoping to get the tele body finished to the line tomorrow and the Supro finish sanded. I'll hit that with some primer for the time being and put it back together until the weather improves for spraying nitro.

Not much happening this week but:
Supro is sanded back to 400 grit.
Tele body is fully shaped now. If weather permits I'll get it rounded over this weekend and take some pics.
Did a practice finish on an offcut with 2 coats of boiled linseed and 4 coats of Tru-oil. Only to 600 grit but its turned out damn well. Don't think I'd bother doing much more than that grit wise, a few more coats of tru oil knocked down with some micromesh.

finally got back to this today after the supro refin took most of my spare time :)
Anyway, I did take pics but the manual cam on my phone was set to a stupid exposure of -2 doh....
So, final shaping complete, neck pocket routed, pickup cavities routed, control cavity routed and all holes drilled. Didn't have a roundover bit small enough for the standard tele round over so used a 45 degree chamfer bit and have rounded by hand.

Sadly not perfect, but good enough :) The joint is off center by about 4mm. still haven't decided what to do with that neck pickup though I've routed it as close as I could go, I just hate that whole single coil look thing. but don't like the single coil ring either argh.... maybe will end up with a pickguard after all.

Will probably have the body finished on monday so will assemble it with an sx tele neck I like for the time being, and work on the kwila neck at my leisure :)

All natural builds are so bloody annoying as there is nowhere to hide, hence the slight offcenter joint! un-noticeable if painted. TBH if I didn't mention it, nobody would know. But I do!

I've started with the tru-oil now and the grain is really popping out :) Not sure about those knobs, they're just some I had lying around, might have even come from my original steinberger

Very nice that Melanoxylon Acasia!

Looking forward to you building the neck.

Am I mistaken in that the centre of the join is slightly off centre? :sarc:
