And..... new tele day :D

Post by Bg »

I know I have a wilkinson bridge coming in the mail somewhere.... so I removed one from the blackwood tele and strapped it on, just wanted to get it in position really and test out etc.
Still needs some fettling, I've had to shim the neck and I'm not sure what I'll need when the bigsby goes on so don't want to do anything drastic yet! But I've got the action set nicely and the neck does feel like buttah.

Was really in two minds about the pickguard, but then router slippage on the neck pickup route decided for me :D

OOOOOOOHHHYEAHBABY!!!!!
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Ha, the route for the neck pickup isn't. First time using a template, normally I do freehand. My fault, should have watched out for the bearing riding up. Oh well, its under the pickguard ;)

It doesn't seem to have a 22nd fret overhang. Have you had to cut the pocket further in to compensate?

Bloody tidy job, by the way. Looks great.

Looks great, especially on the wolf skin.

High E okay for pull offs? Or is it just the photo?
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Its closer to the edge than I like, but more like the top pic. I'll be fine tuning it when I strap the calliper on :D

I always worry if I have put the neck on straight, even more so with a set neck. I have to admit, I needed a washer under the Bigsby caliper's tail piece bit that connects to the body. Without it, the high E string just had too much of an angle from bigsby to bridge. I think it is because of an uneven archtop where the bigsby rests... But hey, it is a prototype I say :)

Like most bolt on necks, its got a bit of movement in the neck rout, it just needs unbolting and tweaking over :)
