Colour Consultant needed for Guitar finish
Was going for a Trans White which after 2 coats of the Nitro aeresol I’ve realised I’m a little off with my white mix.
It’s 5% white in clear lacquer.
However it looks ok as is.
What do people reckon?
Was planning on going back to get maybe a 20% white mix but maybe I should leave it?
After sanding and sanding I’ve realised it will be very hard to sand out the dark stain which has seeped into the grain, which means it may never look like exactly how I wanted anyway.
This is what I was hoping for.

It is what it is. And what it is ain't bad. Take the win. If you still want the other finish, build another. What's not to like about more guitars?
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I really like it. You could perhaps go a few more light coats to get some more white on... but honestly, it looks great like it is

A few more coats might give you something to buff to a sheen.

I really like that colour, but that neck needs some work
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Due today! I might need to borrow your spray rig for a couple of finishing coats on this one. Having to wet sand between each coat to get it smooth again.kdawg2a wrote:When does the new arrival........arrive? You must be struggling without a guitar to play!

This is a very rare mid 60s CBS prototype 2 bolt neck before they decided 3/4 bolt would be better.sizzlingbadger wrote:I really like that colour, but that neck needs some work

As Molly suggest, a few more coats of the current mix could give you something more to work with....or just cut your losses and work with this. Some aged hardware and it will look good.
