No. Two tone burst. Two piece alder. I wasn't sure if it'd matter about it being a hardtail. Totally speaking.olegmcnoleg wrote:Is it a shell pink relic like the one in your photo? If it is DIBSMolly wrote:
Danny has a very nice hardtail body if you're interested (oo-er - JB?).

the paint is flaking off in places, so it needs a respray unfortunatelyGrantB wrote:I would be hitting that Strat body with some dirty amber clear first to see how it looks then. Strip and repaint....yikes.

Re: Another Strat build project
Had a regular, shiny green guard hanging in the garage (much like the one fitted to the CS '61 Strat I just bought back). Experimented with Autosol polish (which has a mild abrasive in it) and wood dye to just try to age it a little. Here's the '61 and the project Strat one. Just takes the 'whitened teeth' look off it.

Yeah, I saw that. The neck I'm using is NOS so I have to limit the aging or it'll look all over the place. Waiting to see what the body's like then I'll know what'll go with what.olegmcnoleg wrote:Grant has one for sale that looks nicely aged...
Cheers.

Re: Another Strat build project
Just taped all the bits together to weigh it. With a PRS Strat-style bridge (just there to give an approximate weight), pickups but no pots, springs or neck-plate/bolts, it's 7.12lbs. That's nice and light so I'm right chuffed.

The finish does look rad in that pic... but the neck pocket is a different story unfortunately. Brian might show a pic. It'll be an easy one to strip, because in places the paint will chip off with a fingernail

Oh, I see. Well... I suppose that's OK then. Olympic white is a pretty great colour choice.AiRdAd wrote:The finish does look rad in that pic... but the neck pocket is a different story unfortunately. You could try sticking it under a UV lamp for a few weeks--that might do it.Molly wrote:Wondered if I flat it back a bit then put a thin Olympic White on there would I get a true Shell Pink.
