Neck angle?? No shims please.
In the planning stages of a mahogany chambered body with centre block and flat cap and one thing that is bothering me is neck pocket angle.
It will have bolt on neck, Gibson style bridge, now I see LPs have around 4 degrees and without all components at hand all I can think of doing is a full scale side profile drawing with bridge height to measure the neck pocket angle I need to cut.
Any thoughts guys n gals?

I agree, I think it would pay to do a full scale drawing
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

suppose you could make a mockup body out of mdf and get the neck angle that way, route 4 degrees first etc

Already drawn up headstock design, body design, soundhole drawings, electrics template for wiring etc so I guess one more drawing wont hurt.
Then Ill need to program these up on cnc

Would it not be easier to plane down the end of the neck at a slight angle?

yeah this. I would make the neck pocket flat and angle the heel of the neck to suitolegmcnoleg wrote:Would it not be easier to plane down the end of the neck at a slight angle?

No need to draw
All you need is meter long straight edge, flat table top and the bridge or its dimensions so you can use a bridge dummy. You can figure the rest out yourself

When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.
