Picked up a Rockcase perspex-front case yesterday which is great for display purposes but I'd like the option to use it as a regular hard case for transport as well. Looking to obtain some foam in either a large sheet form, or ideally custom-cut to slot in behind the perspex font/between the guitar that will stop it flapping around in transit.
Any recommendations on where to buy/source?

I too was about to re-line a flight case. One question I have is about the foam lining possibly reacting with the nitro paint. I might have to not just replace the foam but line it with material too. Can't be arsed with all that to be honest.

The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

What about just putting the guitar in a gig bag and sticking that in the flight case? As lazy-arsed a way as it is, it'd actually give you much the same protection and you'd have the convenience of the gig bag option when circumstances permitted.

This can indeed be a problem with some types of foam / soft plastics...I have an acoustic guitar with its varnish removed around where it contacted a stand with foam padding. So yeah, for safety, you'd want to cover it, or check with the manufacturer.Molly wrote:I too was about to re-line a flight case. EDIT: or make sure the guitar has a poly finish, in which case you should not have a problem.

True, but seems like double handling.Molly wrote:What about just putting the guitar in a gig bag and sticking that in the flight case? As lazy-arsed a way as it is, it'd actually give you much the same protection and you'd have the convenience of the gig bag option when circumstances permitted.
