This may be incorrect and not sure where I get this impression from but... candy apple red seems to be rather disliked, or at least it's unpopular? I'm a huge fan, would love an old pick-up in this finish. Had a strat in that finish, would love another one some day!

It's a paint finish and colour that is very much of it's time and was massively over-used when it was popular, so lost favour. But I think it's gone full circle and is cool again.
