Well I sanded off the old paint on the Jag today so there is no going back now!

Not sure yet, but hopefully the PPG place in CHCH.
If not them I can get it from Wairau Paint Centre in Auckland. It’s PPG 262 Speedlac apparently.

Humidity at this time of year is going to be important. You might need a hydrogometer (?) thingy....I like to spray at less than 60% if poss. There might be more info on web re options

I'm hopeful we will get a few more sunny weekends with reasonable temps before winter sets in, otherwise I guess I'll have to wait until November ish!

Thankfully Canterbury is semi arid. For the most part average humidity is very low.

Decided against the full Nitro experience on this one as the body is fairly rough underneath the pickguard and not worth the investment.
Had some left over 1k Clear so bought a can of what I thought was close to Lake Placid Blue for $33 and did the rest with what I had in the shed.
It’s not far away but not a perfect match colour wise.
Electric spray gun was inconsistent again (splatted out badly and caused bubbles in finish which didn’t really sand out well!) so I think I’ll invest in a proper spray rig next time.
The guitar looks pretty good.....as long as you don’t get close to inspect!!

Shit man, that looks fantastic! I like the pickup selector switch too. Was never a fan of the traditional jag controls.

Short scale is ok, I’m used to fatter necks though so this one is a little on the thin side for me.
Needs a it of fine tuning to get the rattles to disappear as well.
I’ve got an actual Fender decal coming too which I may or may not put on.

Looks awesome - nice job! Headstock match does look good. So are you happy with how its all come together then?

Mostly, it’s far from perfect but I think that’s mostly due to gear issues.
I’ll be getting a compressor and spray gun before the next project.
I might even refinish this one if I still have it by Summer.

So whats the story on the guitar Reg?
