My first build.
My first guitar build will also be my first ever V. Excited at how it's shaping up.

Re: My first...
I sat down with the body and was amazed at how comfortable it is. With the V wedged into your right thigh I think it's more comfortable than a conventional guitar because you don't twist your back at all.Kris wrote:V's rule.I thought i'd exhausted my GAS but part of me still yearns for a classic gibbo V.

Re: My first...
The dark wood is walnut. I only have narrow strips of maple so I had to get creative- the black lines through the middle are epoxy which I coloured. I'm making the neck out of walnut and have an ebony board I'll be putting on it. I'm planning to make the pickup rings out of walnut and fret inlays out of the maple.Lostininverness wrote:Sweet - what have you made it out of?
So many ways I could stuff this up! LOL!

Re: My first...
is wallnut a neck wood?
I`m only asking as I`ve not seen a walnut neck.
the body looks fanflippintastic so far.
what epoxy did you use?

There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

Re: My first...
I wondered about walnut for necks too, but Warmoth make necks out of it. It's definitely a very solid, dense wood so I'm pretty confident it will be fine. The epoxy is just 'West System.'mrmofo wrote:is wallnut a neck wood?

Why epoxy over Tite-Bond?Basket Case wrote:I wondered about walnut for necks too, but Warmoth make necks out of it. It's definitely a very solid, dense wood so I'm pretty confident it will be fine. The epoxy is just 'West System.'mrmofo wrote:is wallnut a neck wood?

I think it was for the Infill stripes.

I`ve been watching people make tables, knife handles and pen blanks from poured Epoxy. the is the first guitar body I`ve seen, very tasteful it is too

Yep, I've made an epoxy 'river' table- it came out really well. I've been thinking about doing something like this:mrmofo wrote:I`ve been watching people make tables, knife handles and pen blanks from poured Epoxy. the is the first guitar body I`ve seen, very tasteful it is too

Re: My first build.
Finished this a while ago but haven't got around to taking any pics until now. 5pm inside on a winter's day isn't ideal (a photographer I'm not!), but oh well...
Really pleased with how it ended up. Learnt a lot along the way.
