Here's a mustang style guitar I'm currently making,

I've got the option of either white or tortoise shell for the pickguard. What do you prefer? I don't have the TS one yet to do a mock up.

First of all, wow thats rad. Second of all, Dibs.
Bound neck and block inlays is a tasty choice. Also I agree re: the JM/Jag trem vs the traditional mustang trem.
Whats the scale length?

As for the pickguard, I really like the look of tort on blue but it might be all a bit busy with those pickup choices.
Here is my blue jag with tort.

Thanks bro! It's 24 inch like a Mustang/Jaguar but instead of the usual 38mm thick Mustang body it's 44mm like a Strat/Tele/JM etc.
Your Jag looks lovely and the tort works really well but I think the white pickups have something to do with why it looks so cool. Once the tort guard arrives it'll be easier to choose but your Jag is definitely giving me food for thought.

Nice! I’d love a mustang with a JM/Jag vibrato. Where did the body for this one come from?

I'm not usually a tortoise shell guard kind of guy but it looks really good with that blue!

This one's getting closer by the day too. Waiting for laquer to dry is like watching paint dry. Quite literally.

That's an awesome looking blue finish you've done there!! Assuming all in nitro is it?

Yeah, unfortunately all spray can finishes for now until I can get another proper rig again. You can buy nitro cans at Walmart!

My vote is for the tortoiseshell, not usually a big fan of them but it works really well with that shade of blue. Nice work

Hmmm what about mint or parchment? Will be less stark than pure white.

I think creme perloid would look good on that, but from those two options, I'd go white.

Is it possible to put the bridge pickup in without the plastic surround? Also, have you mocked up having the bridge pickup sitting straight? It looks great as it is, but I think the bridge pickup straight with no surround would look killer too 😊

I've routed it to go on an angle,

The Kurt Cobain mustang has a straight humbucker and I'm not a big fan of how that looks.
I'll fit it up without the surround first and see what it looks like. I may end up cutting a chase in the pickguard for the surround to sit into. Down to halfway through the black layer.
