Dr Z Maz 18 Demo

Post by mr_sooty »

A quick demo of the Maz, just a one take 'noodle' using camera audio. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing and I didn't bother setting up a mic. Hopefully it gives you some idea anyway.

Hey, a nicer clean than I expected...I like amps where the notes 'pop' a bit on the clean channel.

I like.

Yeah, part of that is the way I'm playing, popping with my fingers, which is a bit of a habit. I wanted to show off the cleans a bit as there are plenty of vids of it's crunch on the net. Obviously a built-in camera mic isn't really going to do it justice though.

I've just listened to a clip where the guy has a fulltone fulldrive or something...sounds great. Are these from Ryan?

Flip yeah, it loves them. It'll take whatever you throw at it. Great cleans, great breakup, great with pedals, looks nice, what more could you want?

Yeah, got this from Ryan.

Thanks guys. Sometimes you need to be reassured your tone is OK. There are plenty of times when I think everybody has better tone than I do. Sometimes you can get too close to your tone.

Then move the stool further away.

Does sound nice. I can really hear that immediacy of response that Zs generally have. Mr Zaite builds a spanky amp.

Sounds like a Maz alright! If that's how good it can sound on a camera mic, I imagine that recording you did a few months back sounds awesome.

+1 on the playing too, very nice. Listening to your playing style, I can see why you've bonded with the amp so well.
