Re: NZ Music Month - One Minute Song
Hey dudes, here is mine.
Used one of the one min breaks I posted as is. Been really really strapped for time so excuse the lack of inspiration.
Could peeps please give me feedback on the mix? I have just moved and my set up is in the lounge for the next few months. the Monitors are far too close to the wall, not to mention the left monitor being approx 60-70cm away from a corner! as well as wooden floors and a totally different room size/dimensions. I was getting bass reflections firing around all over the show so the mix down was a bit of guess work based on my previous and superior setup. Gave it a quick buzz on my bro's laptop and it kinda sounded like I ended up mixing the bass down too much and the mids tweaked all wrong.
Cheers

I actually think you got the bass just right, too much bass and the rest gets lost.

Yeah, I'm listening on the net cafe cheapo headphones and not liking what I'm hearing..... mushy (not the headphones either), I also forgot to increase the master level.... left heaps of headroom.
Looks like I'm going to have to spend a bit of time A/B to get a handle on the new space.

@ Dayl
Sounds a little scooped to me, and to my tastes could use a more in the sub 100-hz. Sounds like nothing but the kick and bass is putting out enough in that range? A fine balancing act trying to avoid making it muddy, though...
A great track by the way, would be keen to hear it as a finished full length song.

Re: NZ Music Month - One Minute Song
Nice, thanks guys.
@ Greg. Thanks heaps for that bro. That was exactly what I was afraid of. The new temp setup is a nightmare for mixing compared to the last room that I had "past participle of get" used to.
When I fired it all up, there was bass everywhere which in turn made the mids etc seem pumped I guess. The speakers are too close to the wall to say the least. I knew that compared to the last place, what I was hearing in the nearfeilds was too good to be true haha, sounded really well balanced... but all that surgical EQ was a waste of time.
I'll start another thread later I guess, when I start sussing the space out.

I'm afraid so.... put thought the bronze pedal setting, fuzzed, heavily phased... eq'd, compressed.. bounced then more phase..and master group compressed again
so yeah... not a whole lot of justice being done there.
Been meaning to send you a PM to let you know that I've done a runner and your not getting it back
see you on the weekend bro

Re: NZ Music Month - One Minute Song
some great stuff in here, finally got around to listening to it all I think we need a thread at the end of the month with just the songs, as a sticky... or I might even stick them together and shove it up on youtube or something?
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.
