Tailor Made - Sweden

Post by Andy_Chandler »

Just received our final album master for the new The Mark of Man album. We had it mastered in Sweden, by Peter In de Betou - He is a true genius ^_^

He has worked on everything from Shania Twain to Meshuggah, did an awesome job, had an amazing turnaround time, and was cheaper than pretty much everyone we looked at in NZ. Not to mention he has 30+ years experience.

Plenty of headroom, and the spacial work he has done is incredible, so much depth!

Would highly recommend to anyone looking at needing some work done.

We uploaded a new track onto http://www.myspace.com/themarkofman (Bête Noire), from the master yesterday - obviously myspace compression kills everything :P

Album out July 21st.

Common misconception that metal bands are "emo" bands, because of the screaming. Thanks media.

Ugh myspace makes everything sound horrible. Like there's nothing below 80hz and nothing above 8k

Definitely sounds better than Albatross does on the myspace player, but much worse than Albatross on Youtube.

Would be keen to hear a wav/even an HD youtube version.

I would argue that it's more about the delivery than the content. If we're talking lyrics, then a lot of metal bands, crooners and blues musicians pretty much own the entire Emo genre...

And grunge, and folk.

I'm probably pointing out the obvious/noone was actually serious... but Mark of Man doesn't even verge on sounding emo.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo

Here's what wiki wants to say about it.

My Beef is that as soon as people hear screaming they assume it is emo, when in all honesty the two have hardly anything to do with each other. Some bands broke out, and had screaming verses etc, and more often than not a sweet as an angel singing chorus, or hook etc, that lead into the "screamo" genre, which is a far cry from what most modern metal bands put across.

It may seem like splitting hairs sometimes, but its like lumping country music in with jazz fusion. If you know the styles etc, you'll know the two aren't the same, and you'd be frustrated if your jazz trio was called a country group :P

exactly. I dare you to tell James Hetfield to his face his lyrics are emo.
