Can you tell these Tele's apart?
Strummers was so kind to test drive my NZ timber Telecaster.
Here some samples of three Tele guitars:
- USA Fender with noiseless pickups and maple neck
- Tele with a Korina body and maple neck and Tonerider pickups
- my Tele made from NZ timbers and Di Marzio noiseless pickups
All guitar pots on full, amp settings the same for all sound bytes.
Can you tell which is which?
Tele 1 - both pickups first, then bridge:
Tele 2 - both pickups first, then bridge:
Tele 3 - both pickups first, then bridge:

My fav was number 1. I wouldn't even like to predict which guitar is which but i'm kind of hoping the Korina Tele is number 1.

I'll give it a go, though it's just a wild guess.
1.Jvppcaster
2.Telecaster
3. Korinacaster
And I can think of a dozen reasons why I'm wrong!

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Interesting to see three different takes...
Let's see if there are some more who wanna do some educated guessing and the we'll reveal all tomorrow.

Haha I think I tell tell the subtleties of what I played so I better not publish a selection....
Good fun though. Great guitar jvpp has built.nthe fretboard is beautiful, clearly has payed ALOT of attention to making it perfect. He's a clever guy.

My fav was #2, although I'd be happy with any of them. As to which guitar it was - not a clue!

Re: Can you tell these Tele's apart?
My guess is that the first one is probably the USA tele, but possibly the Korina one.
JVPP one is probably #3, but maybe #2
Definitive guess:
1: USA
2: Korina
3: JVPP

I'm going to cut down the required tonewood tree at 5:30. PLEASE, stop the carnage!

This just shows you how 'useless' these sound byte tests are.... guitars need to be held in your own hand and played by your royal self.
I love kdawg2a choice - "My fav was number 1" as it is mine
Cunning Slowie was spot on, not sure how he theorised that one.
1. Totaracaster
2. Telecaster (USA)
3. Korinacaster
I personally was really impressed by the Tonerider pickups in Strummers' Tumbleweed. Combine that with it being the lightest guitar of the three and you have a winner.
I am still happy with mine though.

Re: Can you tell these Tele's apart?
I'm not often right about anything; it's a nice feeling
I've played your Strat. The Tele has a similar tonal character. That was the easy one. For the other two, there are so many factors that could influence the outcome. I tried to listen just to the wood. #3 seemed a bit more resonant and piano like to me so I figured that would be the Korina. Fenders vary so much that I wasn't really confident though.

Re: Can you tell these Tele's apart?
They're not useless, they're informative. I've always been a bit keen on a Korina tele but after those sound bites i'm looking more native now. Lucky i've got 2 hollow Rimus ready to go!
