Sorry if this has been covered a thousand times.
What are my options if I want a super convenient method of recording guitar at home? Obviously the quickest way is to go direct without setting up amp/mic and telling the family to go away for a few hours etc.
I just want to get semi-decent sounding wav files onto my laptop for use in music production. I have my band's M-Box thingy at home but it's a pain to use because it requires ProTools (Lite version, UGH) installation which slows my computer and I just don't need it. I use FruityLoops exclusively and occasionally Audacity for wav file edits and have no intention of moving to ProTools.
So what's out there? Not necessarilly the cheapest, but just something simple that a dumby like me can use at 3am without much trouble.
Easiest way to record guitar direct?

No it doesn't, provided you have the driver you can use it with whatever DAW you want.MogwaiBoy wrote: I have my band's M-Box thingy at home but it's a pain to use because it requires ProTools

My first recording attemps were guitar, pod, laptop line in, Audacity. Wasn't amazing, but good enough and simple.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Good to know - I might try and figure out how to do that. I've tried and nothing comes up unless you run it through the included ProTools Lite, which gives you a pitiful 4 tracks to play with... so you invariably have to double-hand everything by re-exporting from there. Heck I don't think it even lets you export full quality Wav files. It's pure shite.Timi wrote:No it doesn't, provided you have the driver you can use it with whatever DAW you want.MogwaiBoy wrote: I have my band's M-Box thingy at home but it's a pain to use because it requires ProTools
