Eliminating computer generated noise?
Tried to record something today and realised the computer I'm using to record is itself responsible for so much interference I can't actually use it. Tried using different sockets in case the problem was to do with them being on the same circuit but I couldn't eliminate it.
How will I ever share my genius with the world if I can't overcome this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Eliminating computer generated noise?
No. I'm just recording directly in to Audacity with a crappy mic. It's as low-fi as it gets.

Re: Eliminating computer generated noise?
Get yourself a proper interface, you can plug direct into it, or use a mic, will isolate your input from the PC, plus sound a TON better
I have a M-Audio fasttrack I'd sell uber cheaps, using the interface in my Blackstar ID Core now

Re: Eliminating computer generated noise?
Thanks. I'm utterly broke though.
The main problem is that the computer generates noise through the guitar / amp so the best mic in the world would just pick up more of it. This is the case irrespective of the guitar used.
Just had an idea.... Going to see if it's the same running off the laptop battery instead of mains.
EDIT: Audacity at fault? Bugger.

Cheers. Get the feeling I'm going to open an expensive can of worms with this home recording venture.Bg wrote:Ah so interference, battery should, or a socket filter maybe

Take your hands off the keyboard.willow13 wrote:move further away from the monitor
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.
