Re: Free DAW plugins
Looking for free instrument plugins, particularly piano, electric keys, brass and strings. I not expect there to be anything free really, I expect you need to pay to get good ones. Does anyone have the same need or can recommend something to look at please?

Re: Free DAW plugins
Depending on the format you could try MDA plugins (although I think they tend to come bundled with apps like Reaper from memory).

Re: Free DAW plugins
Thanks Ben, I have Tracktion 2, and there were some MDA plugins with that from memory. I use Reaper these days, although I love Tracktion and have been tempted to go back to it with Tracktion 5.

Re: Free DAW plugins
For those of us who are (and those of you who should be) fans of Stillwell Audio plugins: I have just spotted that they have finally all been updated to 64bit versions. WOOHOO!!!
http://www.stillwellaudio.com
Particular favourites are the Bombardier and Rocket compressors, the 1973 EQ, the Event Horizon soft clipping plugin and the Transient Monster plugins.
They were semi-free licenses ie. They had a nag screen when you launched them but were otherwise unrestricted and fully functional. I'm pretty sure they still wrk that way.
Bloody good stuff!

Yes very cheap. And well worth it.bobiron wrote:Thanks Captain, their prices are fairly cheap...if you use Reaper, which I do. I try some of their stuff out.

Re: Free DAW plugins
Softube have just released AU and VST versions of Saturation Knob.
http://www.softube.com/index.php?id=satknob
I've been using this heavily for sound design for the last year or so, but it's really cool on musical sources too. Even just a hint of it can do really cool things to your recordings, particularly if you use just a wee bit on every component

Another free one from SoundToys- Little Alterboy saturation and pitch/formant shifting:
https://www.soundtoys.com/sxsw2015/&rc=409-6338-737
The saturation/distortion section of this is absolutely awesome, but the pitch and formant shifting is really cool too.
NOTE: You need an iLok account, but not an iLok dongle. You can authorise it straight to your computer.
