I wouldnt get too hung up on the midi then. That just means the amp uses midi to communicate with the footboard, your quarter inch channel switch uses a very basic language, other amps use a variety of cables and cyber language. The beauty of midi is that many other types of controller will communicate with the amp, often they are cheaper.

Some amps and controllers let you enter manual mode whereby all the amp/pedal settings are not preprogrammed but act on an individual effect. So instead of calling up patch a-23 or whatever on your amp with preprogrammed everything pedal a is a channel switcher, b is delay, c is chorus etc etc. that can be useful for jamming. it takes a while to get a preprogrammed setup working in a live situation. What sounds good at home might not mix well with the band but you cant change it quickly while playing.

I suppose a digital watch is out of the question then.

It all loks so flash but as you say a good few pedals and a nive old amp are probaly the way to go.
If I got something and didn't like it I am sure you would be more than happy to aquire it to try and sort out any tech issues us lefties have. :P

So whats the deal with the Boss unit you are selling ? Is it a good unit ?

You could probably be trusted with one of those red LED watches where you press the button and it lights up for a couple of seconds.....

I'm always willing to help out, I'm sure I could make the patches work :) (Natural Born Fiddler)
