Jansen 6 Twenty
My brother in law owns a Jansen 6 Twenty which was sort of going with lots of crackles and scratchy pots, if they worked at all. As a result he had it stored for many, many years collecting dirt and dust. His birthday is coming up so I took the amp without him knowing it and got it repaired. It had a non stock Marshall speaker which was sort of rooted and did not sound to good either. So I put in a second hand Blue Marvel.
Repairs done, new speaker in and power on - good heavens - this is a marvelous amp, dead quiet, super nice cleans, great tremolo.
There is only one negative, I want one.
Any others who love their Jansen amps?
Here some pics.

Here's my #1 from 1964. Two EL84's, proper point to point wiring, (otherwise known as a fucking rats nest) reconditioned by Clarry Schollum, volume, treble and bass, that's it. Plugged into a duo cab loaded with a THD Longhorn and a Celestion Blue. Feeds 3 single coil guitars via my pedalboard.
What can I say... I ditched a magnificent JTM45 for this. Don't regret it, this thing sounds like me.

Dead quiet, super nice cleans and great tremolo is exactly how I'd describe my 6twenty head too. It's probably my best sounding amp, just ahead of the Greenstone for phenomenal cleantones. Certainly more full range sounding and just so lush. Far more suited to guitar than the more popular Bassman 50s.
Getting harder to find these days unfortunately.
I'd love a 4/Twelve someday.

They are fairly heavy. Haven't tried pushing it hard with a humbucker yet. Will try next weekend. It really is cleans galore.Postby Frey » Sun Jul 05, 2015 6:09 pm
Awesome. I'd love one of the small combo jansens. Does it drive much when pushed?
I hope he doesn't like it so I can buy it from himPost by Bradman » Sun Jul 05, 2015 6:31 pm

This one has 3 x 12AX7, 1 x 12AU7 and 2 x 6L6. Yes, Clarry does a great job!Post by slowfingers » Sun Jul 05, 2015 6:52 pm

I think Ryan (AmpShop) will be able to make something very similar...Getting harder to find these days unfortunately.

Yes I agree, of the 4 guitars I made, that is the most stunning one. And plays beautifully too. I am sure he would have but it stays with me.

What a thoughtful gesture. Great that it sounds so good.
