Non-powered full frequency full response speakers

Post by AiRdAd »

Hi guys,

If I wanted to buy a full frequency, full response speaker, what would be a good option to go for please? I only want to use it in my sleepout, and I don't need it to be powered, as I've got a fryette power station. I suppose two speakers would be cool, but not necessary.

Thanks heaps :-)

Maybe a 1x12 with an EVM12L in it?

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I wa half and half thinking giving a kemper a go. But don't know what to pair it with speaker wise. I wanted something that wouldn't colour the sound and would allow me to use the speaker emulation on the kemper.

Please don't tell me I need an evl speaker, because I've just sold two of them! Hahaha!

I was wondering if there were products that like the powered ones, but without the amp feature.

I have a pair of 200w Celestion 12" FRFR speakers on their way from the UK.

https://celestion.com/product/200/f12x200/

I probably wont need both.

Just fantastic. It really is a big step up from the thd attenuator that I had and loved too. The thd was the best of that type of attenuator, but this is next level. Well worth it :-)

I'm using one to amplify a Kemper. It's an industrial build for sure. Incredibly solid.

I haven't used it to re-amp a smaller amp as I don't really have one, but the attenuation is fantastic

I'm not sure what you have planned regarding cabinets for these but you might be interested to know that I built a couple of cabs to the specs recommended by Celestion. If you're doing the same, I found the ports muddied up the sound a lot. I rebuilt the baffles without them and it was a huge improvement. YMMV though.
