A fully Pedalboard based Amp setup?
I've sort of been wondering about this for a while - some sort of preamp (amplifire maybe) into something like a Magnum 44 or maybe a Quilter Tone Block?
Anyone had similar thoughts or tried anything?

Re: A fully Pedalboard based Amp setup?
I did this back in the eighties with a Yamaha REX50 processor, a midi foot controller and a 100w/side stereo power amp all in my board. No other pedals. This was my first all digital rig.....on todays standards the drive sounds were a bit sterile but no-one - not even my peers in other bands - ever criticised the tone!
Since then Ive done similar things with powered cabinets and units like the Sans-amp character pedals. I have the Blonde pedal and its a pretty good Fender tone. I think a couple of other forumites have had this type of setup.
Of course my current rig is perfection!

I presume you're meaning to run through a normal guitar cab, rather than a FRFR active speaker...

Magnum 44 won't have the balls for gigging, those amp1's are pretty cool, did consider one before I got the HD....

my experience echoes what jb said-theres a few peeps on teh facebooks who reckon they use one live but their drummers must use feathers for sticks....the only thing i could think of is maybe i wasnt driving the front end hard enough(line/vs instrument level).

Wow, that Amp1 seems amazing! A bit of a shame about the way it looks but the performance seems incredible!

Yeah, to me it looks cheap and plasticy. Plus the logo looks like something someone came up with using Microsoft office.

It's certainly not particularly expensive.sirvill wrote:I think it looks cheap myself - especially the footswitches
