Anyone play/own Atomic Amplifire?
Seriously considering one of these. They sound fantastic for the price.
Just wondering how it would sound into the effects return on my tube head (el84) and coming through my vintage 30's? Or is a unit that is designed to go through a PA or studio flat frequency response type speaker?

Re: Anyone play/own Atomic Amplifire?
A few folks on here have run these devices as a pre-amp to a tube power amp, as you propose. I know from experience that this works well, and you can disable the Amplifire's power amp modelling and speaker sim so you don't overcook things. But you get even more flexibility and tonal accuracy (by simulating power amp and speakers) if you go into a PA or monitors. So, it will do either, and really well.

There is a thread on them, and quite a few owners on here. I had one for a while and they are very good, both through a FRFR speaker and also through an amp loop return/cab.

For most amps it would work pretty well that way but not Soldano/Jet City ones. The fx loop on these amps are placed between the preamp gain stages (pre-tonestack and there are still clipping happening after the fx loop), so you can't really use them as just power amps.griff7628 wrote:Just wondering how it would sound into the effects return on my valve head (el84) and coming through my vintage 30's?

Amazing how you can go from no cash to buy now in a few posts.
Mine's still for sale

Larrivee 00 Acoustic. FAV Strat for electric. Ibanez SDGR5 for bass. Push for Ableton. When not doing that, 3D CAD for tunnels...

Sorry man. Im terrible at remembering everything I've read. I should have bought yours. Cause I'm not a fan of trademe fees like everyone else. I had been planning on getting another acoustic guitar with the money but got lost in reading and watching reviews that your offer went to the back of my mind and jumped on the auction. Apologies mate.
