There's a 2x12 Stiletto that's been re-listed quite a few times on TM... I actually thought that ended up with Molly...

Heh... it looked like quite a monster, and I expect it will sound like one too!

Haven't got it yet, waiting for Molly to swoon through my area. Probably next month.griff7628 wrote:Like it? Not too bright sounding?

Re: Best Boogie you've played through?
Watched a guy demo one on YT. He said you can't set them the way you might usually and that treble and presence have to be much lower. Sure enough, that's when the full body of the sound comes through.Mini Forklift Ⓥ wrote:Haven't got it yet, waiting for Molly to swoon through my area. Probably next month.griff7628 wrote:Like it? Easily the best I've played through is my TA-30. Mainly by virtue of it being the only Boogie I've played through. I rate it though, it's Vox crunch is spectacular to my ears...

My two cents go to the MKV. Seperate head and cab setup. Killer cleans.
MKV combo was a flop comparatively.

I've had one of those. Except head and cab. At the time I also had a jtm45, 60s plexi, and jcm800. The sounds are all in the mesa, you just need to find them. The easiest way is to a/b is with the real thing. Once you get you the reference sound/characteristic, it's easy to dial in. If I didn't have that, I would of struggled.Mini Forklift Ⓥ wrote:Okay, well that one is mine now

Re: Best Boogie you've played through?
I guess the Mark V wins for versatility.. maybe pure tone as well. I still haven't played through one yet. Hanging out though.
This winter I'll either get some sort of Boogie or Jet City's new Amelia 50W head.

Only played thru a Mark V and it was awesome, especially in the low wattage mode, very impressive beast!

Hadn't seen the Amelia before. Great, GAS ignition.griff7628 wrote:I guess the Mark V wins for versatility.. maybe pure tone as well. I still haven't played through one yet. Hanging out though.

This guy's getting a great, high-gain tone out of his.AiRdAd wrote:I've had one of those. Except head and cab. At the time I also had a jtm45, 60s plexi, and jcm800. Re: Best Boogie you've played through?
owned many rectos and still a owner of Recto Reborn, love it
The best one I've played was an old two channel Triple recto, no boost, insanely tight chugging machine on its own. Not too sure which rev. version.
Punch in the chest like no others.
And Rob M's old Mark3, man!!! that thing chugs like no tomorrow, hands down the heaviest Mark amp IMO.
Past:
Triaxis (too sweet sounding, except with 2:100 or hooked with Recto's modern mode engaged loop return, insanely articulate for fast heavy riffing)
Mark II C+ (same as Triaxis, too sweet sounding and too metallica)
Mark IVa (very good at low volume but way too noisy)
Single Rectos Ver2 (very good with EL34s for thrashier tone, no need for boost once cranked up)
Early 2000 Dual Recto three channels (boost is a must IMO, does the job but reborn slays it in every single aspect)

Yeah man big fan of jet city, especially at their price point. It's a shame there's no NZ dealer for them any more. Oh well, customs fees it is.hamo wrote:Hadn't seen the Amelia before.
