Best courier company for shipping AC30 head to Ak?

Post by Reg18 »

Have sold my AC30 but running into high costs for freight.
Main freight seem to have introduced some minimum $100+ charge before they even message it, Fastway were $120 and Poste Haste $90.
Seems alot for a head which is 18kgs!
Or is this normal?
Packaged weight will be approx 20kgs 0.129 cubes

Anyone got a better way?

Castle Parcels, try them out, should be significantly cheaper!! I use them all the time for stuff, cheapest by a mile and never had a problem after quite a few guitar and other sales :)

You need to take it in tho', I've had varying quotes from them on the phone compared to what you get charged in the store....

Make it the buyer's problem. Say you're happy to deliver it to the courier office of their choice but from that point on it's not your concern.

Honestly, that sounds c**ty but shipping has become so bloody expensive lately.

And there's always Pack 'n' Send.

Have to agree. Make it their deal. Offer to drop it off and pack it well. That way they have all the issue. Chasing it if it goes astray or is held up in transit. Claims if required. Most of all they pay for it directly. Also never any arguments over the actual costings. Main Freight I am no fan of at all. Likely to get dumped inside acouple of tractor tyres and smaked on a pallet. Just about every dealing with them has been a hassel IMO.

Went with Castle Parcel 2-3 day in the end, it was 23.8kgs and 0.129 cubes. Cost $90, just for anyone who may may have a similar issue in future.
Fastway were $120, DHL $180 for the same thing but overnight (no cheaper option from them)
Insurance up to 2k

If you sell through Trademe, you can click on the "Book a Courier" button which gets you a quote from Fastway.
They give a cheaper price through Trademe compared with phoning them direct.

NZ Couriers are good but not cheap, Fastways are ok and cheaper. The first thing is to ensure item is WELL PACKAGED, I mean go for the worst case scenario (like driver dropping it), secondly make sure that no matter who handles it (driver, depot) make sure it is well labelled (Fragile, this way up, TOP STOW). Has shit damaged before = NOT FUN

I use Mainfreight bulk...drop into their depot. I shipped my 40KG JMI to Wellington for $65.

Main freight in CHCH have introduced a minimum of $100ish for cash sales for some reason, I recently sent a vacuum cleaner and it was going to be $145 through main freight and it was $40 through Poste Haste!
I don't understand why there is so much difference between company's, I would expect $10-30 difference for the same thing maybe? not hundreds!

Because we're small-fry and they don't give a fuck.

Between the huge TM fee hike (they were very quiet about) and the freight costs I'm over it all.
