Re: NAD!! Gave the Katana the Chop!
This thing is such a great amp.... loving it... just what I was looking for. Could personally do without the ultragain channel but its all good. Stoked with this purchase! I just shook the house and had my 15yo asking if I was deaf and why it was so loud...which gave me the oportunity to sit him down and explain to him that his generation are pussies.
Great amp

Marshalls are the bleedin sound of Rock mate. I have full size casters on my 1X12 and it looks mean and menacing, like a midget with sword sucking a soggy cigar.
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

The difference between 50W and 100W is about 3db which is barely perceptible to the human ear

Check the in the mail thread to be honest I'm kinda glad I didn't buy another tube amp, the katana on the 0.5w setting is just brilliant for home use, and with the 12" still sounds beefychur wrote:Another 'Recommend me an attenuator" thread about to begin?dayl wrote:I don't remember 50w sounding this loud. Re: NAD!! Gave the Katana the Chop!
For amps with plenty of preamp gain and an FX loop you don't really need an attenuator. If you find the volume knob a bit finnicky, a volume pedal in the FX loop will do the job, or an EQ pedal with the gain slider down.
Amps:
Soldano SLO100 x2 | Wizard MC1 & MC2 | Diezel Herbert
Fryette Pittbull CL | Marshall 2203KK | Krank Rev 50 | Mesa Mark 2A
Rack stuff:
VHT/Fryette GP3, GP/DI & 2/90/2 | Peters FSM/Chimera
Verellen Meatsmoke | Synergy SYN1 | Mesa Studio

Lol, just scrolled down and found it. Interesting to see how that one goes.jeremyb wrote:Check the in the mail thread to be honest I'm kinda glad I didn't buy another tube amp, the katana on the 0.5w setting is just brilliant for home use, and with the 12" still sounds beefychur wrote:Another 'Recommend me an attenuator" thread about to begin?dayl wrote:I don't remember 50w sounding this loud. haha yeah. Looked into it a fair bit. The weber appears to do what I need it to. Will see.chur wrote:

It really depends on how much you're looking to attenuate - I had a weber and tbh it killed some of the tone once you started to attenuate more than a notch or two.dayl wrote:haha yeah. Looked into it a fair bit. The weber appears to do what I need it to. Will see.chur wrote:

So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.
Re: NAD!! Gave the Katana the Chop!
I have an attenuator I am getting rid of as I no longer need it, it's good for any amps up to 60w. It's an 8ohm model, I've used it on my Engl 50w head and it worked great.dayl wrote:haha yeah. Looked into it a fair bit. The weber appears to do what I need it to. Will see.chur wrote:

Re: NAD!! Gave the Katana the Chop!
50w can be stupidly loud. I think people still assume there's a massive volume difference between 50w and a 100w - like Jeremy said it's literally only a few decibels. I'm guessing a lot of guitarists prefer the 100w for the extra headroom.dayl wrote:I don't remember 50w sounding this loud. Going to have to rtfm to make sure it's switching to triode ok

Yeah. Not trying to attenuate down to quiet 1-5w bedroom levels. Just need to tame it a bit.Bg wrote:It really depends on how much you're looking to attenuate - I had a weber and tbh it killed some of the tone once you started to attenuate more than a notch or two.dayl wrote:haha yeah. Yeah, I had no idea that this was the case. 50w sounds great though.Mini Forklift Ⓥ wrote:50w can be stupidly loud.
