NAD: AC15 C1

Picked this amp up last night, and I've managed to have a decent play today. I've been ampless for about 6 months, so my corksniffing instincts have dulled. But I love this thing.

My previous amps were from the Fender and Marshall end of the spectrum, so it was curiosity that made me lean towards a Vox this time. I was expecting that classic edge-of-breakup Vox sound and it certainly does that. But the amp is far less one dimensional than I'd thought it would be. I've been really blown away by the gainer sounds. Very warm and creamy, and heavy enough to cover most things up to about Foo Fighters.

The Timmy and Memory Lane Jr sounds like they were made for this amp, and I admit to getting my Edge on a fair bit.

It's definitely a different ballpark to what I'm used to, and there's a bit of a learning curve. Mostly that's in how "forward" the notes sound. They're more immediate, and they don't have the bounce and sag you'd get with a Fender, obviously. As a result my playing sounds more exposed and a little stiff at times. But that may just be the lack of practice lately.

Overall I'm really, really stoked with it. It's a lovely, versatile, portable amp, and at $600 it feels like a steal. Big thanks to Danny for putting me in touch with the seller.

No offence, but did you use 'bland beige' filter on your camera?
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Are you saying you don't also buy amps to match your curtains?

600 bucks?
Shit.
That's awesome.

Do you like the super strong reverb?

Only thing that miffed me was the no effects loop (that I remember). Ac30s had them though.

... and there you go, thinking about getting carried away with the bigger one . . . . .

What are you trying to hide with beige curtains?

I'm not sure. I mentioned the forum cus the seller knew Todd, but I didn't get the impression he was a forumer.

As a result my playing sounds more exposed and a little stiff at times
I plugged my LP Custom into one of those Marshall made VOX AC30s with the greenbacks back in around 2000. Scared the shit out of me and i promptly stopped playing. Seemed very stiff and unforgiving. It had the tones for sure but felt really weird to me. Not what I was used having been running stereo with a JMP-1 pre into a Marshall Dual Monoblock and then a Digitech thing into a Mesa power amp. Needed more time on the VOX with nobody watching.

This is exactly how I felt trying out Vox's at Music Planet.

Now that I am home I can noodle with less concern for who I'm inflicting my playing on.

Yep, it's the creamback version. From what I've read online that means a slightly smoother midrange.
