Recommendations for a simple solid state amp in the 30-60W range
It seems that in solid-state land, it is hard to find an amp that is not laden with effects (modelling or otherwise). Are there any 'simple' amps in the 35-60W range with no effects (or at least only a couple) that aren't crazy expensive?
I like the look of the Orange Crush 35RT for example.

Any used fender thing. Often has an alright gain channel and an effects loop.

Quilter are great, but a bit more spendy. I have a Mini 101 which goes from 2 watts up to 100watts and sounds awesome.

I guess I have always associated tube amps with serious guitar players. Of which I am notHackSaw wrote:what is the reason for solid state?

That does look good. They also have an AV60 for a similar price. (A lower grade model??)

I'm not a serious guitar player, yet have a tube amp! There will be no end of great amps around that mark - you'll get lots of advice hereShimmer wrote:I guess I have always associated tube amps with serious guitar players. Of which I am notHackSaw wrote:what is the reason for solid state?

That sort of thinking needs to be debunked immediately! Tone is contained inside those little glass bottles.

Are you in Auckland? If you can stretch to $600, then I have a couple of real tube amp options for you.

boss katana, 50 watt. Not spendy, as complicated as you want it to be i.e. not at all or very. 4 great channels to choose from, don't listen to the luddites who put their faith on out dated valve tech. They just have too much surplus cash and no idea what they actually want/need.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.
