Only had one high voltage shock from it so far too.
Do you have any comments about style of post PI master volume mods for the ab763? Seems a confusing and complicated land scape.
Im thinking of a train wreck type 2 (larmar?) mod. All sorts of varients with different pots/configurations.
Thanks

Re: The Abominable Showman
I don't like the concept of MV on these, I think its all wrong. But if you're determined, a dual gang post PI works better than a cross-PI blender thingy YMMV (Also remember to add the other set of blocking caps)

I kind of agree with you, and determined I am not.tubeswell wrote:I don't like the concept of MV on these, I think its all wrong. But if you're determined, a dual gang post PI works better than a cross-PI blender thingy YMMV (Also remember to add the other set of blocking caps)
I think I will make the negative feedback switchable between 820/1.5 and off though and won't persue the MV mod
Cheers

Re: The Abominable Showman
Now with added deadliness!
Spent this morning building a 2x10 baffle for her out of hardwood ply from the demo warehouse in whangarei. (great shop)
I didnt have any more wheat cloth so I went the oxblood way. ..looks meaner
It now has a negative feedback switch for added snarl. Also new tone caps.
I have to say the rather cheap and cheerful warehouse guitar speaker g10c's ABSOLUTELY shine in the is amp. Im blown away by their bass and top end.
They dont seem overly scooped to my ear and the mid control on the showman becomes very useful.
Also its not stoooopidly heavy weighing in at 20kg.
I had a neodynium speaker that i liked at room levels but its bass response at volume seemed to render the bass pot useless and it got lost in the mix.
This setup now seems to have a more toneful sounds. Still has the jackhammer showman attack but has a little more sustain and grit. Absolutely beautiful with the JL tele-master style bridge pickup.
