Vox MV50??
Now they've been out a wee while, does anyone here have much experience with the Vox micro-head? The MV50 AC is the one I think I am wanting. I like the idea of a little amp that packs a punch. I've read good things. One of the negatives is that people they are aimed at are often on a budget (like I am), and therefore end up pairing it with a cheap cabinet and don't get much of a good sound out of it. So not the fault of the amp itself.
Anyway, curious to know what people think...

Re: Vox MV50??
Of the available 3 (clean, hi gain, ac) a bloke I know has the ac.
He’s plugged it into the peavey 212 I used to have a couple times to great effect.
Annoyingest part is finding cab with x or y impedance, cuz that’s how it does it’s wattage thing.

Re: Vox MV50??
I have 2 of them
MV50AC and MV50Clean
both are amazing
I'm selling my MV50 Clean for $200 because I've gone from a stereo setup to mono.
The direct to FoH sound is GREAT.
the 8" and 12" cabs you can buy for them sound amazing - worth every penny. and GREAT with pedals.
Headphone output is great too, jam silently in the lounge etc.

Re: Vox MV50??
Can I just ask a quick question of the AC version - how well does it do cleans? If the gain is dialled right back, is it still clean for the full range of volume?SimpleSi wrote:I have 2 of them

Sort of.
Ac30 by design isn’t a clean amp.

So you are saying it is clean enough, but not Roland JC120-clean... (? )Single coil wrote:Sort of.

Maybe I want the clean version one after all. But then sometimes I don't want to have to rely on a pedal to get some gain...

Re: Vox MV50??
If you want something that doesn't break up, the AC version is not the one to go for. The Clean however, is just that, a massive block of Fender-esque clean. I'm a big fan of this range of amps, they punch massively above their weight.

Wish I could punch above my weight but alas, too much weight!Polar Bear wrote:If you want something that doesn't break up, the AC version is not the one to go for. Apologies for interruption.

Re: Vox MV50??
The clean can break up on a higher ohm cab.
Through a 4ohm or 8ohm it's clean as.
Through a 16ohm it sorts up given its only 50 watts at 4ohm
The clean I've found suits pedals more.
(Buy mine)
