New Vox AC30 OneTwelve
Vox have release a new AC30 called the OneTwelve, any thoughts about it ?
Seems a bit pointless at first thought but I guess if you want clean headroom in something AC15 sized it makes sense.

Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Re: New Vox AC30 OneTwelve
Actually im quite interested in this.
I dont use any onboard amp reverb anyway (always use my tank) so digital reverb is great. less valves, less stuff in the amp to break or go wrong.
I prefer my pedal tremolo too tbh. The simplified control layout and single channel are similar to my ac15cc1.
Some times my ac15 gets a bit squished and broken up sounding for surf, but an ac30 is just too back breaky with 2x12.
This bridges that quite nicely. Id be really keen to check one out.

The weight reduction is appealing, I wonder how good the Celestion speaker sounds. You would have to go with a Celestion Gold if you wanted to get your Alnico Vox tones given its 1x12 and 30watts.

As ever, if anyone if buying a Vox for its reverb capabilities, you’re doing it wrong! That being said the AC10 proved that Vox has got the digital reverb sorted so that is sounds good, and the custom voiced celeation was actually really good. There’s certainly a good chance it will appeal to gigging musicians who aren’t worried about tradition.

Top boost channel only huh? Brian May does not even use that channel according to Rig Rundown at least.

Alan from troika (chch band) has a 1x12 ac30, dunno about the history of it, seems like overkill compared to an ac15c1 which is plenty loud enough!!

Re: New Vox AC30 OneTwelve
i remember us Westies in the late 1980s thinking we needed 100 watt half stacks minimum to join a band. A 50 watt Marshall combo was a practice amp in our minds. Seems crazy now days when even my little Presonus monitors on half volume are enough to get noise complaints. I wonder how many of us now have Tinnitus. i do at least. Ears began ringing at 18 and never stoppedjeremyb wrote:Alan from troika (chch band) has a 1x12 ac30, dunno about the history of it, seems like overkill compared to an ac15c1 which is plenty loud enough!!

So it's a cheap copy of a Matchless John Jorgenson amp?sizzlingbadger wrote:Vox have release a new AC30 called the OneTwelve, any thoughts about it ?

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Vox made a 1x12 version about 10 years agoSlowy wrote:So it's a cheap copy of a Matchless John Jorgenson amp?sizzlingbadger wrote:Vox have release a new AC30 called the OneTwelve, any thoughts about it ?
