YES! Supersonic 22 is awesome, I have one now. I've owned the head and 2x12 version also, it was extremely loud and heavy, but a little bit better still.Danban wrote:As I think someone else mention on here I love my Fender Supersonic 22, it just does what I want and has been very flexible too.
I’ve been through a multitude of amps over the years including:
Marshall Tsl100
Mesa Single Rectifier
DSL401
Laney LH50
Peavey Classic 30
Blackstar HT40
Mesa Stiletto Duece
Mesa Triple Rectifier
Marshall DSL 50 with C12 and choke mod (That amp was great!)
Vox AC30 C2 (Creambacks)
Vox AC30 HW2X (Blues)
Fender Supersonic 22
The only thing is that I wish I had the head version and 2x12 cab.
However this has now sent me down the rabbit hole looking into getting either a Fender Deluxe 5E3 or a Princeton?
Any "forever" amps?

Re: Any "forever" amps?
This thread got me thinking, I've only ever had very few amps compared to lots of people. I knew what amp I wanted for years before I found the exact one (GrantB found it to be exact, thank you sir!), and had some great amps on the way there, notably a Tophat Super Deluxe which I would have loved to have kept. Unfortunately, for financial reasons, at that stage it was one or the other so I had to let it go.
Anyway, I digress. British made AC30. All the right things in all the right places.

Does an AxeFX count? I guess that's not forever though, more until the next update.
But I am seriously considering one of those Port City Pearl heads. They are apparently really great for running modellers through the front, which could be a forever amp thing for me.

Greenstone Bellbird - Snapped this last night, all set up ready to gig.
The Bellbird is a fantastic gigging amp - supposedly 20w of clean, though I think Ryan said it was putting out more like 30w, and breaks up nicely when its cranked. Takes pedals really well, and built like a tank. I have an matching cab for it, but have taken to leaving that at home, its better without the extra headroom, and the punters start to keep their distance when it gets up too loud.
And a couple of others...
Marshall 1974x HW - Not sure if this is quite forever amp territory - the 1974X is my perfect sound in a box, but it definitely has a sweet spot that is too loud for most venues and not loud enough for the others. LP into this, no pedals needed is my favourite guitar sound.
Marshall AFD100 - And this thing is mental, I've got tin-ears, but it nails the GnR sound to me, and the power scaling makes it a very surprisingly capable bedroom amp, which is no small feat from a 100w Marshall. Given to me for my 40th, so it should be a forever amp, which is fine with me, even though its a bit too big to haul to gigs and the Katana mini gets most of the home play.
Of course all my cool toys are thanks to amazing deals from the awesome folk at this place, guitars included.

Tin arse!!
Re: Any "forever" amps?
Great amp that one. I have a 'remodelled' LH50R, killer tone and just surprisingly articulate. It has been re-housed in some lovely old rimu that was taken from some old church pews; I redid the piping and put a new grill cloth on it.Danban wrote:Laney LH50
Since I got it I replaced the Sovtek's with a pair of NOS 1960's RCA Black Plate 6L6's, it's now running at around 45w with a little more headroom. No major repairs done to it, capacitor is marked October 1998 so it's good to know it's likely to be pre-2000. Glad I found this one, a definite keeper

it's taken me about 45 years to discover that my ideal sound is a 335 thru an ac30

Re: Any "forever" amps?
Forever is a very long time.
My music room is blessed with my Boogie Mk IV, a Tone King Skyking and a Tone King Falcon Grande. They all sound awesome, and cover a massive tonal palette. Yet my Kemper through Atomic CLRs (which I’ve been running now for 6 years) remains my go-to 95% of the time.

My Yamaha THR10 will probably be my forever amp. sigh.
