New Mesa Day
Thanks to Oleg I finally own a Lonestar. I have given it a quick service and plan to get a new handle and replace the leather corners just to tidy it up.
Nearly all the "Export" Mesa's I have worked on in NZ are set to 230v internally instead of 240v, including this one. I moved it to the 240v tap and it sounds nicer to my ears. The B+ dropped from 490v to 460v which is where it should be according to the schematics.
Bloody heavy though being a 2x12

Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Re: New Mesa Day
You've had a few Mesas now.
I've had four different Mesas and had reasons for moving them on.
Interested whether you keep getting rid of them because they aren't quite what you want.

Re: New Mesa Day
Same form factor as my old Stiletto Ace combo, and likely the same heinous weight.. but Mesa do know how to make a huge sounding combo.
Also, that Tele = smooth AF.

2x12 is mighty loud for bedroom use, one of the reasons I moved the katana head and cab on, couldn't play it with anyone else at home

I really don't like that to be honest, might as well plug into my interface and use a plugin

Re: New Mesa Day
Ah, there she is. Looking nice and shiny now too. Your 240v change may also explain why I preferred the Tweed setting, as this cuts the plate voltage down again (I think to 400v)
I hope you really enjoy this amp. I know I have. And yeah, Mesa must make the chassis from recycled neutron stars because it weight a metric ****-tonne.
