Big glass in the form of a KT88 quad & big iron in the form of some beefy Heyboer transformers, all working harmoniously to supply ample power for a hot rodded JCM800 type circuit

A lot of power & great tone. Is there anything that could give this amp any more authority....
Well how about an actual quote from the big dog himself, jeebus πŸ˜ƒ

Splawn amps contain two biblical references within. Some people are deeply offended by it, some scribble it out, some people like it & others don't care. I myself am blissfully unaffected by it, couldn't give a hoot because I'm not religious & the amp sounds great to me. Also, not once did I catch either of my Splawns handing out pamphlets at gigs or trying to recruit!

That's cool (well I think so anyway). My MJT body came with a little verse inside (John 3:16), which they had taken the time to translate into te reo Maori. ;-)

Speaking of which, 4 x KT88 must sound like the voice of God too?

I checked that verse. β€œEveryone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

I've got a 4x12 quad that I sometimes wonder what inscriptions lurk inside if any.

I have no religious subscription, only a curious observer.

When I was working for an unnamed music store, a colleague delighted in selling to a church a bass guitar with a serial number ending in 666.

Amusingly when I saw a photo of the Tamaki's in their Tesla the the number plate ended with 666...

The other reference is John 3:16, that is inside the head shell.

The KT88s work very well with this circuit, big & bold. Sounds really good. Amp circuit/design is very well done, can even achieve great tones at lower(ish) volumes. Has a pentode/triode switch also adds thoughtful tonal variations & different feel.

Mexi Standard P-bass. Think it was natural with tort guard. Good workhorse instrument.

I wonder what the actual power output of this monster is?

It might be beyond the capabilities of most attenuators!

When Audio34 (amp tech) had the amp in for tube replacement they measured output as:
81 watts RMS clip point & 132 watts RMS max
So perhaps not as formidable as it may appear.

Interesting. I suspect the OT and/or B+ are the limiting factors here. The design is ultimately based on a 100W Marshall after all.

I have a Park75 which contains 2 x Kt88's and it's waaay more civilized than the 100 watt 4 holers which preceded it. Decent MV too.
