Re: IK Multimedia ToneX
I've tried hooking up the Tonex desktop app to a cheap inexpensive Peavey Bandit amp power in (turning off the cab sim, of course) and to my ears it sounds pretty good.
To me it sounds more organic and amp-like than other VSTs such as Helix Native, Guitar Rig, Amplitube or Scuffham S-Gear, when plugged into a guitar amp.
Pretty certain I'll be getting a pedal version soon enough.

Re: IK Multimedia ToneX
great playing man !
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

You can buy direct from IK but I bought from a local retailer here.

No, I am not that tech savvy - don't even know what those things exactly do. Bandit has a power amp input, so I am feeding Tonex line/headphones output straight into Bandit's PA section, while making sure that the cab sim in Tonex is turned off.Kris wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 10:41 amim assuming you are puting the signal thru some kind of reamp /di as well?MBG wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 6:56 pm I've tried hooking up the Tonex desktop app to a cheap inexpensive Peavey Bandit amp power in (turning off the cab sim, of course) and to my ears it sounds pretty good.

Re: IK Multimedia ToneX
ah that would totally work-its when you try feeding stuff into the front end /instrument level things get dickey.

Re: IK Multimedia ToneX
hey whanau, thinking of getting a used one, seen a few pop up in the marketplace, question is can I just plug and play? I don't have a pc and DAW anymore so I'm unable to mess around with downloading etc etc
Does it sound decent if I just plug and play? Or must I buy/download presets/IRs/etc ?

Re: IK Multimedia ToneX
If buying second hand then I believe there’s a bunch of issues. Like IK only allows one transfer ever so you’ll not be able to sell it. And if the seller doesn’t do the transfer right then you are also screwed.
I don’t know the full details as I bought mine new direct from IK but I’ve seen grief and grievances on the forums.

Re: IK Multimedia ToneX
Sounds like something designed to boost new sales, but likely to have the opposite effect given guitarists only exist to sell gear to try the next thing, so would be less likely to buy something they can't sell on.
