Re: Marshall JTM Studio Series
And they use 5881s. I'd assumed they would do the standard downsize trick of switching to EL84s which never seems totally convincing to me.
Bet it'll be spendy though.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

The other two amps in the series (Plexi and JCM800) use EL34s at low voltages as well.

Re: Marshall JTM Studio Series
Why didn't they add a Jumper switch to save having to use a patch lead on these amps ?
Same as other studio series (same price), nice looking though. $1750 + GST delivered from Andertons, so about the same price here I expect.

I wonder if they'd take KT66s?blackstratblues wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 2:11 pmThe other two amps in the series (Plexi and JCM800) use EL34s at low voltages as well.

That’d make it an 1974 though.

Re: Marshall JTM Studio Series
Big glass = big tone usually. Even at smaller voltages. The /13 BTR is 23 watts from two KT88s.

Re: Marshall JTM Studio Series
One of the best amps I owned was a Marshall with a quad of KT66’s. Really like the look of the 20w head, and waiting until they land here gives me a chance to save some coin
Oh and great to see they’re Made in England

That'd be a shame. Terrible amps.

Re: Marshall JTM Studio Series
They're still not made very well though. Cheapy parts on a cheapy PCB (if they're anything like the jcm800 studio). You're definitely not paying for build quality.MiniForklift wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 8:51 am One of the best amps I owned was a Marshall with a quad of KT66’s. I would like the vertical 2x12" !
Like everything, I have had a number of those in the past, and sold...

Re: Marshall JTM Studio Series
If the OT can handle it, I'm sure changing out the bias resistors should do the trick.

That guy's playing is weird - robotic or something.
Not getting the vibes.

Re: Marshall JTM Studio Series
I agree! He seems to do most of the official Marshall videos but his phrasing or something isn’t very musical.
Can play fast but without the soul?
