Amp handle and middle pin

Post by k1w1 »

Hey Guys

I have a Harmony H418 amp made by Valco in 1954 that I have had for years, Ryan refurbed it back in 2009. Anyone know where I can get a new black leather handle and the centre pin for the old style mounts?

Hadn't played it for years since I got the MikeC 5R3 but got it out a few days ago, stuck a HOF mini reverb on it and whoah, good stuff. But the handle is pretty rotten so looking to replace it.

An upholsterer might be able to make a copy and might have suitable pins.

Or a leather goods maker like the leather shop on Otaki, Black & Co

If you're not bothered about colour, it looks like a standard fender style leather handle

Cheaper are available from other countries. Best to check dimensions with them, but it looks standard to me. They come with t-nuts so you're sorted if you need a different thread pitch.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

That would be great BG, not worried about colour, I'll keep the original, it is not broken through yet but close to. Not an amp I am ever going to sell, I bought it in 2008 and picked it up from a friend in LA. It was my amp on my road trip across the USA. 5 watts of Valco goodness :)

I log in every day but haven' been inclined to post, but I do owe a 2X NGD and NAD. Was taken ill and hospitalized with septicaemia 2 months ago and that has screwed my mobility.

Are we still talking about an amp handle?

No worries it is not urgent, hadn't played it for a few years, got it out a couple of days a go and with a HOF mini reverb the damn thing sounds great.
