Re: Amp Recommendations.....again
Yeah, i'm a bit confused by this 'get a modeller bro, they are awesome' collective opinion too.. However, I would probably agree - personally i'm more than happy playing through a modeller (even a low-budget modeller like my old RP-80) for practice, and since they will hook up to a full range hifi, which is usually.easy to come by in a uni flatting situation, i'd say its the way to go. Otherwise - while some ppl dislike em, i have fond memories of my first amp, the humble marshall MG15.

Don't let those old timers freak you out... embrace the 21st century
The pocket pod looks like lots of fun... http://line6.com/pocketpod
You can take it anywhere, practice through the hifi a great option.
(btw if you get one, I want to borrow it)

I have a GT-8, a POD XT and a Pocket POD. If you're looking at using amp models then definitely go Line6. The Gt-8 models sound like arse in comparison-DaNextSlash wrote:LOL...I'm fecked..$300+ was the going price for 2ndhand Boss GT-8s in Jap....should have bought one

Go with a 2nd hand XT if you can, or the Pocket Pod.
It's going to give you all you need and more for low level/headphone practice.
Like BG, I've used the pods since their introduction. Its all i use for 'home' practice and recording ideas...

on another slightly related note, if anyone has an original pod, the rockshop in aucks have the v2 upgrade chips left over and you'll get a great upgrade price

PODs are the way to go. I also bought the X3 bean recently and am really digging the sounds.
Had an XT ordered but was taking too friggin long so the rs gave a good discount on the X3... No god damned 64bit drivers though!!! WTF!?

no 64bit drivers for the normal XT either though... sure the 64bit will be out round about the time of the gearbox release. ProbablyCarnage wrote: No god damned 64bit drivers though!!! WTF!?

I hope so! Surprised it's taken them so long really. By the look of the line6 forum there's been a crap load of vocal, pissed off people demanding them for the last couple of years.bluesgeek wrote:no 64bit drivers for the normal XT either though... sure the 64bit will be out round about the time of the gearbox release. Awesome products though.

Re: Amp Recommendations.....again
Yeah I'll try and knock one together shortly Its important to realise that it isn't a huge leap forwards, the sounds are virtually identical to an XT with all the packs loaded. What you do get though is essentially 2 XT's in the same box - the dual patches are the fun thing. The X3 Live has got a bad rep already, many bugs and a bit flimsy! Lots of complaints on the Line6 forums.

Re: Amp Recommendations.....again
Hi there thought i might get some enlightenment on this subject as well. As i need to replace my practice mg15 2 weeks after the waranty run out I am after amp that can use footswith on. Has any one had any dealings with the fender frontman 25r? I have read on guitar review sites that it sucks pretty much,? Rock shop have a deal at the minute on the mg30 with effects but have also read that the mg series are also unreliable, Something suitable for blues, classic rock to hard rock/metal and everthing in between Cheers

Fender Frontman - sucks
Marshall MG - sucks less, but apparently you are having reliability problems so I wouldn't blame you for not wanting another. On the other hand I've had experience with 30, 50 and 100 watt MGs that belong to mates etc and not one of them has broken down in years.
