Rivera KR7
Anyone have any info on Rivera Amps, and the KR7? Looks like 6k NZD from UK...Besides the death metal sound, anyone know how they are? What about other Rivera amps?

Re: Rivera KR7
I'm pretty sure the KR7 is just a Knucklehead with a few changed values [caps etc..] inside to make it a bit darker sounding. It'll be cheaper to get one from the U.S than from the U.K. There used to be an NZ distributor but they seem to not be operating actively. Would be cheaper from the U.S anyway.
Re: Rivera KR7
Any idea what they are like sound wise, they seem extremly versitle....a ton of variables.... how do they rate say compared to Mesa Boogie?

I own a River Knucklehead 100, the older K100 from the 90's.Tonemaker wrote:Anyone have any info on Rivera Amps, and the KR7? Looks like 6k NZD from UK...Besides the death metal sound, anyone know how they are? What about other Rivera amps?
It is my primary amp, and the best amplifier I have ever owned. Totally pisses all over my DSL100 and any other amp I've had in the past. The only thing I've like more than this to date was one of Custom Audio Boutique's Splawns, but those things are hard NOT to like.
The Knucklehead does everything. I mean everything. One channel can sound like a either a Twin or AC30 with ease right up to Plexi. The other channel covers JCM 800 through to modern high gain. It had enough gain for everything bar super Euro Sweedish death metal (and I can sitll get that sound with and OD pedal on top of it) is built like a Sherman tank with super huge transformers, solid footswitch and is super reliable on tubest - I have been running on the same EL34's since November 2006 with weekly band practises and regular gigs.
I am always tempted by this brand whenever I see one (rarely) on TM.

Scored it off the former Zed, now Atlas guitarist Andy Lynch - it was his backup head and was apparently used all of a dozen times - he preferred is Soldano. Picked it up for a crushingly good $1600.Ibanezdude wrote:How much did you get the Knucklehead for?
