Amp Head Courier

Post by DaNextSlash »

Thinking of getting a head...What price should I be expecting to pay for courier from Wellington to Whangarei?

Its a pretty big mofo, but I guess your standard "big" head. Weighs maybe 25kgs+...

Or the other option could be to claim as baggage on the flight home...and pay the slight extra for bring overweight.

Worth the risk??

Cheers

Looks like $5 a Kg over the 20Kg allowance on Air NZ. I'm not sure I'd trust baggage handlers any more than couriers to be gentle with it though. Lots of padding and fragile stickers maybe?

I would trust baggage handlers WAY less than couriers.

+1... look out the window while they load the cargo hold and you'll see...

NZ couriers (in general, not the specific company) seem to be pretty good with not breaking stuff, actually. Especially compared to the horror stories you hear in the States.

I've known couriers as honest as the day is long, and I've known ones that were thieving pricks (and prickesses). With something like an amp head I'd have thought that it would be pretty safe, but Rocklander''s post makes me think differently. :?

Baggage handlers are called 'Throwers' and there's a reason for that. Just remember to take the valves out during transport if you think you have to. I would.

An alternative scenario could be just shipping your 2x12 cab down here? [just as hard...] or selling it and buying something here instead, that way you can start a band and we can jam
