Duncan Antiquity PAFs

Post by porkpie »

Well i did it finally, i bought a set of Antiquity PAFs from the USA, theyll be half way here by now, cant wait to get them in my Goldtop and crank the amp, the only price i could get from local shops was $399 each  and when i coughed at that he said he could "do me a deal on a set" i though it must be one hell of a deal to make me buy them from you pal.

I got online with the old credit card and bought a set of two PAFs, brand new for $340 NZ INCLUDING freight! :D

My other big purchase was the Marshall amp in my signature below, i just cant resist a handwared valve amp :) I cant compare it to the AC-30 as its sooooo different but what an awsome sound it makes :)

Yes i did get it from the Rockshop, those monkeys somhow smashed a valve between auckland and christchurch, ive since replaced the lot with NOS mullards and now it sounds sweeeeeet. ECL86 valves are not too easy to find!

It sounds good with all my guitars but sounds the best with the Goldtop, the old tokai PAFs are nice pickups but i think it could be better so i bought the antiquitys in keeping with the goldtops very vintage vibe.
I did not buy the alnico pro II pups, a friend had some in his lester once and i didnt think much of them. (i hate the slash tone!)

lol yeah, those antiquities are supposed to be 'the real deal'. Let us know how you get on, they're probably the only pups I'd consider trying now.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

I understand they have "gunk" added for the real old feel...? Let us know when you get them. Cheers
