Re: Kemp Strings - WTF is this black magic?!??!?
yeah saw that earlier. I don't see any magic in it.
Having owned a transtrem steinberger, it really wasn't a game changer and clearly EVH didn't think so as he only used it on two songs. And that was to lock it down in pitch for the solos.
The guy doing the demo doesn't make me want these magic strings in any way shape or form. Dull playing, dull dull dull.

So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Its quite impressive but to be honest I think it sounds too much like autotune on singing, I prefer all the odd harmonics and shit you can get

I think they are definitely an evolutionary step. So often after you see a new innovation it seems obvious - this one does for me. These strings may bring about a new tone or style from some up and coming guitarist!Bg wrote:yeah saw that earlier. I don't see any magic in it.

Not for the guy demoing them, its just the odd unison bend with a whammy bar.... I can appreciate there will be many people who can use them artistically after thisMike Clayton wrote:I think they are definitely an evolutionary step. Re: Kemp Strings - WTF is this black magic?!??!?
It's quite interesting because some string manufacturers state the tension of each string in a set and clearly aim to get them similar (this makes sense to us players). But they never are the same. I wonder what magic/technology enables Kemp achieve this tension nirvana?

Re: Kemp Strings - WTF is this black magic?!??!?
dunno but I had to have calibrated strings for the trans trem to work, so it isn't really black magic. They could manufacture strings like this back in the 80's. Granted they were made calibrated specifically for a steinberger - but why couldn't they do the same for a normal double locking whammy?
