I should clarify, the Affinity had a thin satin finish on the neck, the neck was a modern medium C shape, not especially thin.

Unfortunately since it's a budget model who knows what factory it's made from and I imagine the range of quality will vary. I feel lucky to have found a good one.

Another consideration is that price and the target market effect perception. Tests show you can present fine champagne in tastings as a budget product as people will rate it as such, people presented with budget sparkling wine but told it is premium champagne enjoy it more.

My mexi the finish and fit was great, pickups and setup were crap, fixed both of those and now it's a keeper!

There will absolutely be fine guitars in the Affinity range, but for the price the quality control will be variable I imagine

Present any sparkling in a tasting to me, with my refined palate, and best I can do is “sweet, free piss!”

Is the quality control on the CV squiers more consistent than the affinity's? I would have assumed not, but those CV's do seem to get overwhelmingly positive feedback.

I'm actually eyeing up this https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listin ... 1490559338 . I kinda hate the sunburst but it seems hard to go wrong with $600 case included. Even if I kept the case and replaced the tele it would probably pay off...

Those CV Customs are very nice! It actually has a better body wood too I think. The regular CV is pine. While it doesn't make much of a different to my paper ears pine is softer wood. Mine dents relatively easily, and I consider myself quite gentle on guitars. No idea about SD rails though.
