And isn't that the ultimate measure. Can say, hand on heart, that the Friedman has done exactly the same thing for me.philly wrote:I was in the same boat..... What was it about it that floated your boat?
Specifically in this case: My Korinacaster is a fine instrument and I love its OD tones. But there is something not quite engaging about its cleans through most of the amps I've tried; they always need some help from a Klon type clean boost.
Plugged directly into the Custom 68 however, it sounded gorgeous. Turn the volume down and it gave sweet acoustic strumming tones. Wind it up and you get the full range of Tele snap, snarl and roar. The two channels give you the ability to run direct to one and via a pedalboard to the other (A-B-Y switch required).
But mostly, it's because I could happily plug directly into the amp and play all day. Have always wanted an amp like that.
still makes me grin every time I use it

Re: What are you gassing for?
Did you notice any hum on the reverb at all? These amps were notorious for loud reverb hum when the volume is down all the way. No good for Studio or bedroom playing. Apart from the hum, it was a great amp. Fender said it was 'normal' but that was bollocks...Slowy wrote:I've never liked the Silverface look. Finally played one yesterday. Screw the cosmetics, this is the amp I need.

You turn the reverb pan around and it goes away

Re: What are you gassing for?
Yes, I believe that is the solution but the NZ retailer and Fender NZ both denied that the noise was abnormal and gave all sorts of BS technical explanations for it. Very disappointed I was and the amp was returned but refund denied as there was nothing wrong with it....TmcB wrote:You turn the reverb pan around and it goes away

Hmmm, that's a bit BS - it's definitely noisy unless you turn the pan around. I'm not sure if it's the quality of the pan or not. I mean, these are literally DRRI's with circuit tweaks, new aesthetics and speaker - they even use the DRRI board, just cutting traces where required - so I don't why they can be noisier, but they really can be.jvpp wrote:Yes, I believe that is the solution but the NZ retailer and Fender NZ both denied that the noise was abnormal and gave all sorts of BS technical explanations for it. So have Fender fixed it now then or do you still need to fix it yourself?TmcB wrote:Hmmm, that's a bit BS - it's definitely noisy unless you turn the pan around. Shame on Fender!
And their agents who take the same position

Might know of one; you serious?Clanger wrote:A leslie speaker. I wonder if there are any kicking around in NZ?
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Depends which one it is. Is it internally amped or? Not so keen on those. There's a few Mesa made ones in the Srates for sale, but I'd hate to guess the shipping price on something that heavy.Slowy wrote:Might know of one; you serious?Clanger wrote:A leslie speaker. The one I'm thinking of is the vintage Hammond Leslie. Monster tone, monster size, monster weight.Clanger wrote:Depends which one it is. Is it internally amped or? Not so keen on those.
