I thought the whole point of the PAR number is a standard of how bright it is? So a LED PAR38 should be the same as an incandescent?

ah scratch that, just did a google, so its the width as in 38/8's of an inch. Only in america...
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

awww sh*t....here we go again! :) lol

nah, i feel i can justify this one......this will be my 3rd axe fx. ive had two II's and this is my first Ultra. i got it at a good price and i was able to sell my II and make back most of what i paid, pay off some bills, buy some important jewelry items for the other half and still have enough left to pick this up. im going to match it with my VHT TWO:Ninety power amp. The Ultra is def not a II, but should keep me sattisfied for a while :)

it was either this or go back to a tube head + pedals, or a rack setup based around a jmp1. i figured since the Ultra models the JMP1 (and many other amps) and includes all the effects i need it was a no brainer.

anyway, will do a review on this compared to the II once it arrives!

Nice. After seeing more and more people touring with these recently (Heavy Metal Ninjas and Coheed that I saw last week both used an Axe to great effect) I'd love to finally get to play one!

chur :) yeah i was torn about this one!! the Ultra is discontinued and isnt getting any more updates etc. so its a legacy product, but im kind of liking the idea of having something "complete", in comparison to the II which is continually in development. kinda like the Ultra is "finished" and WYSIWYG, with no temptation of "will this new firmware be better".

i was really keen to go for a jmp1 and strymon timeline, mobius and the new eventide h9, all hooked up with midi. that would have been a killer rig too, but thought feck it.....an Ultra will have to do!

interesting to hear the HMN guys are using them....i didnt realise there were NZ touring artists using axe fx's....cool though! i reckon you should start up an NZ bands rig rundown section on sixstringsamurai bro!! that would be KILLER! :)

when it arrives i could arrange for you to spend some time with it since you are now living in the big smoke if you like

Great idea! I'll see what I can do about that...

Yup, Richie had an Axe on stage (everyone else were basically using POD HD), and Coheed guitarists were both running Axes with Voodoo Labs controllers and 2x Mission expression pedals.

Would love to check it out when you get it!

sweet as, will be in touch. ive released two II's into the wild here, so there should be a few of those floating around. the last one i sold went to the guitarist from NZ prog-metal band "Cripple Mr Onion"......maybe you could get in touch and arrange some time with the II so you could do an old vs new feature :)

Kinda raised my eyebrows that Steph from Deftones apparently used one exclusively on their last album. That record sounds killer.
