Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?
I appreciate where you guys are coming from, but that seems fairly petty.
If the guy was truly a fuckwit to deal with, then sure, but it kinda just seems that you didn't want to wait a few days to order.
I could just be reading the situation wrong of course.
Also- who's to say this dude isn't just starting a business and has a day job for the rest of the week? We're such a small country that that kind of business is one of the few ways we can get any variety. Again, apologies if he was legitimately an arsehole about it, but his opening hours strikes me as a pretty thin reason to go elsewhere.

To drive my HD650s. Fed from the balanced line out of my presonus studio 68 interface.
Also giving Tidal HiFi another go, although news back in December last year said they were on their last legs. Pretty cool to be able to listen to MQA (Master Quality) audio though. Biggest difference I can hear compared to Spotify premium is the increased dynamics and instrument separation. Havent decided if it's worth the additional price tag though as I don't wanna give up my Spotify family sub.

I have one of the dragonfly dac's that does MQA, not quite as good sounding as a dude I knows meridian one, but sounded noticeably better on tidal hifi compared to spotify

If the guy won't deign to speak to me for four days he can shove it. How hard is it to take a call and process a sale? Andertons had three in stock. What's to say that by then I wouldn't have had to wait until the next delivery? If he's trying to get a business off the ground this is the wrong way to go about it.bender wrote:... his opening hours strikes me as a pretty thin reason to go elsewhere.
Anyway, fact remains, I tried to buy local.

No one should call themselves 'the captain'.
Its like speaking about your self in the 3rd person.

He didn't, Chappers called him the Captain, and it stuck. Chappers was named Chappers by his internet forum group. I don't think there's anything wrong with owning a nickname.StrummersOfThunder wrote:No one should call themselves 'the captain'.

FFS what kind of self respecting grown up answers to the nickname “the captain” without dressing like a pirate, or at least a pilot?Terexgeek wrote:He didn't, Chappers called him the Captain, and it stuck. I have no idea. I just watched a you tube clip where a grown man introduced himself as.... the captain.

Fair dues. Got a head full of flu. Sorry if I offended.Molly wrote:Have a look at the above posts. We all complain that we can't source shit here but what are we actually doing to help the dudes taking it on the nose risk wise to bring this stuff in?
Im guilty of the same stuff, or at least have been but im trying hard to support local where possible.

I think his nickname "The Captain" came about from his being constantly surrounded by seamen.

I've actually been to his showroom and met the guy. He's a very pleasant, easy to talk to chap who is a keen guitarist and I gather this is just a sideline for him. He has a fair investment in stock with all the Jackson and Victory amps he carries. We chatted for quite some time about gear.bender wrote:I appreciate where you guys are coming from, but that seems fairly petty.

He's a little bit different to Malcolm/Guitars Rock - Malcolm is retired and can sit out in his garden shed all day answering emails and sending things off straight away.
