Yeah, that Bryan Maye comes across as a total dickhead.

3 completely cranked AC30's, wow! Interesting to see he used G12H30's alongside the blues... they seem like a great choice!

Nice and simple. Whether Queen is your bag or not, one cannot deny Brian's ability to make good guitar noises.

Re: Brian May Rig Rundown
Quite enjoyed that.
The guitar tech sounded like he was getting a bit fed up.
Brian is a pretty cool dude and a nice English gentlemen.
And I like the fact that he has a guitar that he loves and the build fun he had with his old man.

Love Brian's explanations for the sounds of all the pickup combo and where/why he uses them.

+1Love Brian's explanations for the sounds of all the pickup combo and where/why he uses them.
He also talked about the nut grooves being filed deep so that the strings only run through them and not touch the bottom.... Something I will try next time I'll restring.
obviously you can only do that with a zero fret... Pity he did not elaborate on the zero fret
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Re: Brian May Rig Rundown
I believe it was there for zero friction. One of the things he's explained in the past is that he wanted a trem with as little friction as possible, as the strats of the time went out of tune whenever the trem was deployed. He may have mentioned that in that rig rundown too actually. The zero fret negated the need for the nut to be in play and cause more friction.

Re: Brian May Rig Rundown
That was awesome.
I don't know when I'll ever get around to building one, but there's still a 10mm thick pile of Red Special plans right under this keyboard I'm typing on. I've only been putting it off for 22 years so far
That f-hole one, though -
And what about the shirt Brian was wearing with the NZ things all over it like the silver fern and sheep and stuff. Also appears to have a Sydney Harbour Bridge on it, so who know what it's all about...

Yeah, that f-hole one is a stunner. I never realised how massive the neck was on those guitars. It look humongous.ash wrote:That was awesome.

Re: Brian May Rig Rundown
I find stuff like that very inspirational because he just did it his way and didn't give a fuck about the trends and GAS.
I'm a big Queen / May fan anyway of course.
