$1499 USD....
That's a lot of money for a bit of gear with the Line 6 logo on it.

Am very interested to see what it's like.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to know more about it. Line 6 have really built themselves into the affordable niche in the market, but this is definitely pushing towards premium pricing. Does look very cool though.

But I only just decided to go back to amp and pedals!

That looks like the proverbial "do everything" box. That looks slick as feck. Also like the fact that it was all about the UI, which is always a struggle with these things I reckon.

I suppose the question is whether they're expecting it to take on Fractal. If so, they're still undercutting them by a decent margin I assume (not knowing anything about Fractal pricing in USD). But then, they're still Line 6 (or L6Yamaha?), so there's a marketing disconnect there already.

Bloody slick website though! :D

This is indeed designed to be an Axe-FX killer.

They have ground up redesigned the way they do modelling. (i.e. this models in more or less the same way as an Axe FX.)
It's got a shit-ton of DSP horsepower, the feature-set is just wild, it LOOKS amazing..... and it's 2/3 the price of an Axe.

I'm pretty excited about this. If it sounds HALF as good as it looks on paper (and I'm confident it will), we're gonna sell a ton of these!!!

The Fractal FX8 is US$1350, it doesn't have amp modelling though. They are planning to a floor unit with amp modelling called AX8 in the future, but my guess is the Helix will ship before that.
Amps:
Soldano SLO100 x2 | Wizard MC1 & MC2 | Diezel Herbert
Fryette Pittbull CL | Marshall 2203KK | Krank Rev 50 | Mesa Mark 2A

Rack stuff:
VHT/Fryette GP3, GP/DI & 2/90/2 | Peters FSM/Chimera
Verellen Meatsmoke | Synergy SYN1 | Mesa Studio
