Suggestions for pedal purchase

Post by Edwards »

About 99% of the time Im perfectly happy with the sound from my Edwards thru the Rivera. I havent used anything other than the rivera footswitch for a long time, just that and a pitchblack.
Our lead guitarist is a pedalboard guy.
I got to thinking that I like some of the sounds that he can make. But I really dont want a whole pedalboard full of pedals.
Can someone suggest ONE pedal that I might like, just to get something different in my sound occasionally.
It's for church use, playing the latest church stuff, Worship Mob, Hillsong United, Planetshakers, Kari Jobe, etc etc, if thats any help?
I'm thinking something where I can maybe add a hint of modulation/chorus and delay maybe?
Any I dont have much of a clue cos I havent used pedals for many years.
Cheers for any suggestions.

Google STRYMON.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I'd go for an Eventide H9 if you're not quite sure what the special sauce you're after is, as it can do pretty much all of them.

Or if you want to just generically P&W-up your sound most Strymon pedals will go some way toward that.

I reckon a Line6 M9 would be good. It's got a billion FX in it, up to 3 at once, and it's fairly cheap. Has all the FX that modern church player use - Delay, reverb, modulations, etc.

Depends on your budget but I think a Line 6 M9 would be perfect if your not really a pedal board guy. It will cover pretty much everything you could ever want for where your playing and they are around $300 S/H. Delays, reverbs, Comp, Boosts, modulation etc etc.

Change the pitchblack for the Korg Pandora stomp - you still get basically the same tuner plus the ability to get all of those sounds in one pedal. I use this with my Greg Bennett RL4 LTD through my Rivera Clubster 45.
Epiphone Riviera P93 & EJ200CE, Hagstrom Viking Bass, Doubleneck bass/guitar.
Rivera Clubster 45, Carvin AG100D, Ashton BSK158.

Yup, Strymon big sky/mobius/timeline or the Eventide H9.

I tried the line6 and didn't rate it but it's half the price, so.....?

Buy a cheap reverb. If you don't like it, flick it and get a cheap vibe/phaser/chorus. Rinse & repeat til you get something you like.

Yep sounds like an H9, but that also sounds like $600 up...for that you could get a Carbon Copy, a compressor and a boost...
