Last week I was sick. Took a couple of days off.

Played some guitar but didn't feel much like that either.

Couldn't find a good movie.

Ended up on TradeMe/Ebay browsing for more shit to buy.

It has to stop. Any suggestions? Masturbation perhaps?
All the gear... absolutely no idea...

So why does it have to stop?
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Yeah, this. As Molly likes to point out, there are a lot worse vices. I see it as a hobby related to but distinct from my playing. And unless you're a hoarder it should be self funding to some extent... It's fun, enjoy!

My cure is being in a band.

More band = less GAS after an initial spike. Also more focus on playing than gadgets.

Doesn't work for me!
I'm in 2 worship teams & I keep buying, plus to make it worse, I'm also a hoarder :(

Listen to Guthrie Govan/snarky puppy etc, give up on music, sell all your gear.

I can guarantee that's helped a few people with their gas :)

Sorry. You still talking about GAS or masturbation?

I'm not sure when the GAS thing ends. I'm looking at my R9 (a nice example and, arguably, the end of that particular road) and thinking about the law of diminished returns. I could sell it, buy a nice Standard and have enough left for another one. Then I'd regret it and head on back up the same road. Sometimes seems like endlessly refining my gear for the sake of it. Got PRS in my search alerts again. F'k knows why. I never keep them.

Harmless activity when all's said and done. And the GAS too for that matter.

They keep telling me tone is in the fingers, but I have yet to see a "look at my fingers" thread.

Oddly enough both gives you sore wrists



Nah I love GAS it's my only hobby and enjoy opening a delivery and the thought of the next purchase
Jesus I mean it's cant be as bad as these car nuts who spend a fortune upgrading and tweaking
I mean there isn't an infinite amount of gear you can buy most of it is the same just refined

Tbh the folks who are in a state of shock because you have purchased 3 guitars in a week or selling your prized gat for something else still have GAS but by proxy :)
